After 40 years in the blind industry as Head of Research and Development at FRANCIAFLEX (France), and an active member of the European Standardization Committee, Jean-Paul started in 2013 a new life as Legal Expert at Court of Appeal of Paris, and at the Administrative Court of Paris-Versailles. At the same time he has been nominated President of the French Standardization Committee P25A who deals with installation procedures of blinds and shutters. Jean-Paul has also been involved for more than 20 years in ES-SO activities and more recently in thermal simulations. At last, he joined the ES-SO Training Committee, and is now teaching the Smart Solar Shading Advisor (SSSA) course in France, on behalf of GROUPEMENT ACTIBAIE, the French trade union for blinds and shutters.
“I have been close to Claude Guez since he became President of my company, and later when he created ES-SO. As he explained then, the solar protection business drastically needed a European exposure in order to hit the Commission’s mind. We were a small business and were seen as decorative product makers. We wanted to become the “must-have” of the building sector. Today his goal has been reached and I am proud to be part of this great ES-SO organisation who explains WHY blinds are the best answer to global warming altogether with better insulation in the building market. We limit the overheating risks in summer, when others take care of reducing heat losses in winter. A new scientific discipline has been born: it needs to be taught, and I love to do it ! ”
